The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is one of the top health care organizations in the country, with its network of hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, and specialty institutes.  Its medical education programs train hundreds of doctors and nurses each year, and the center’s Vanderbilt Clinics receive about 1.3 million annual patient visits.  Its Vanderbilt University Hospital, together with the system’s clinics and specialty facilities, has more than 830 beds.  VUMC boasts a children’s hospital, a psychiatric hospital, a transplant center, and a rehabilitation hospital, as well as a biomedical research center and the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated facility.
