The American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, SE Region has named Barry Swartz its new Vice President of Trade & Development. He will also serve as Executive Director of the American Israel Educational Institute, the charitable affiliate of the Chamber. In this new position, he will lead the organization’s new outreach initiatives to corporations and philanthropy as well as educational and matchmaker programs that stimulate trade and investment between Southeast and Israeli companies.
“I am excited to bring my professional expertise to an organization that serves as the third pillar—economic development—along with philanthropy and advocacy, that enhances our ability to stand in solidarity with Israel,” Swartz said.
A highly accomplished global not-for-profit organization executive who brings nearly 30 years of experience in the philanthropic world, Swartz most recently was Senior Vice President of the Jewish Federations of North America. He has been recognized for cutting edge initiatives and leadership that transforms organizations. Among his many achievements, he created the continental system-wide emergency preparedness and response system which raised $70 million for domestic disasters, and he directed the JFNA Consulting division, Next Generation programs, and Washington Public Policy Office. He holds a Masters degree in Jewish Communal Service from Brandeis University, an Honors BA in Religious Studies and Sociology from York University, Downsview, Ontario, Canada, and is
a graduate of the Mandel Executive Development Program.
