I got involved with Conexx over 20 years ago, when the organization first started. The “Startup Nation” concept was still in its infancy and new Israeli hi-tech companies were regularly being syndicated on NASDAQ.
As a financial adviser and portfolio manager, I noticed this early phenomenon and created a managed portfolio of Israeli stocks that were trading in the US as well as US stocks with significant investments in Israel. It was the only product like this available to the retail investor.
The creation of Conexx mirrored what I was doing and provided an additional window into what was happening with Israeli business. I was able to participate in one of the organization’s early missions to Israel which had organized site visits to many of the emerging Israeli technology and healthcare companies which allowed me to see their products first hand and have direct conversations with management.
Although I no longer run that portfolio, Conexx has continued to provide me with access to the latest developments in Israeli business, while simultaneously offering an opportunity to get better acquainted with some of the top professionals, business executives and thought leaders throughout the Southeast.
