Conexx’s Young Professionals group is pleased to invite the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs to an evening with Steve Koonin, Thursday, November 17 from 6-8 PM at Atlanta Tech Village.
The evening will feature Koonin, CEO of the Atlanta Hawks as he discusses his life in Atlanta and his journey from UGA student to professional sports CEO. Koonin was named CEO of the Atlanta Hawks in April of 2014 and under his direction, the basketball club has launched an re-branding campaign focusing on millennials and next-generation Atlantans. Koonin is a longtime entertainment and marketing professional having spent 14 years at Turner Entertainment Networks and 10 years prior at Coca Cola.
Koonin is well known for not only his passion for sports and his hometown of Atlanta, but also for his marketing genius. From teaming up with Zoo Atlanta to rename the Black Mamba snake “Kobe” in honor of Kobe Bryant’s visit, to a clever marketing trick offering free tickets to a Hawks game, Koonin has sage advice for Conexx’s young professionals.
Koonin is a lifelong resident of Atlanta and serves on the boards of Emory Healthcare, the Georgia Aquarium, the Fox Theater, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and is a trustee of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta.
