Tel Aviv Stock Exchange CEO
Bill Rogers, President & COO of SunTrust Banks and Ester Levanon, CEO of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, will be the host and Israeli keynote speakers respectively at this year’s Eagle Star Awards Gala, the Chamber’s annual community flagship event that honors the people and companies who have contributed most to the Southeast-Israel economic relationship. The event will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011, 6:00 to 9:00 PM at SunTrust’s corporate headquarters in downtown Atlanta.
“We’re very fortunate to have secured two of the leading executives whose companies are exemplars of the best from the Southeast and Israeli business communities that Eagle Star celebrates,” said Barry Sobel (DeutscheBank Alex.Brown), chair of the Eagle Star Gala Committee.
Levanon was appointed chief executive officer of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) in 2006, and since then, it has been a top performing organization providing capital for Israel’s growing business sector. She fully automated the Exchange, upgrading it to one of the most advanced stock exchanges as well as one of the very few that offers a fully automated trading in securities, bonds, T-bills and derivatives alongside fully automated – paperless clearing and settlement. She joined the TASE in 1986, having previously established and managed the Computer Division of the Israeli Security Service. She earned a M.Sc. in Mathematics from the Hebrew University, and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Rogers was named president of SunTrust Banks, Inc. in 2008 and additionally chief operating officer in 2010, having been corporate executive vice president in charge of SunTrust’s wholesale, mortgage, and wealth & investment management businesses. He is responsible for the company’s geographic banking organization, retail operations, commercial business as well as corporate marketing. Atlanta-based SunTrust enjoys leading positions in some of the most attractive markets in the United States and also serves clients in selected markets nationally. It is one of the nation’s largest financial services holding companies. Rogers earned an MBA from Georgia State University and a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of North Carolina.
