Major injuries to the knees or hips are not relegated to a certain age group or sector of the population. From the elderly to kids playing sports, injuries, such as that to the meniscus, are common and the healing process can be long. But Active Implants LLC has developed orthopedic implant solutions that complement the natural biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, allowing patients to maintain and/or return to an active lifestyle.
Active Implants’ main focus is to provide clinical validation for the investigational NUsurface® Meniscus Implant. This is the first “artificial meniscus” designed to replace one that is damaged or deteriorating. With headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee and R&D facilities in Netanya, Israel, Active Implants is a privately-held Corporation formed in 2004 by an experienced team of orthopedic executives and an inventor with vast experience in pliable structured material technology.
The company first developed their implants for the hip and knee. Patients with early degenerative joint changes today have limited solutions to provide pain-free motion and increased activity. Physicians are often forced to use temporary measures and prescribe physical therapy, limited activity, pharmaceuticals or arthroscopic debridement.
