Chances are you’ve seen Keter’s high stacks of plastic chairs in Wal-Mart or other plastic products in Costco and other places. Keter is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of household and garden consumer products such as patio chairs, storage chests, sheds and so many other items.
The Keter brand started in a small workshop in Jaffa, Israel in 1948 and specialized in toys and housewares. It has steadily evolved and since 1978, Keter Plastics expanded to include products for the garden, organization, children and so much more. Today, The Keter Group’s headquarter are in Herzliya, Israel with US offices in North Carolina.
Many of Keter’s products have been recognized with international awards, including four Red Dot Design Award and the Best of Design award. The Keter Group has 29 factories in Israel, Europe and the US and sells products in over 100 countries around the world.
This summer, Keter was reportedly in talks to sell the company for $1.7 billion to the UK based BC Partners. Keter had $880 million in sales in 2015 and totaled a gross profit of $310 million, which was a 45% increase over the previous year. One of the sticking points during the reported negotiations was that the Keter factories remain based in Israel, which employ 1,400 people.
