Mr. Linowes is a veteran executive and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of leadership experience with fast-growing technology companies. He has a proven track record in creating new companies and new markets in the information technology industry. Mr. Linowes is known for his ability to grow early stage opportunities into successful, scalable businesses. His entrepreneurial endeavors have garnered over $35 million in investment from leading venture capital firms, realizing over 7x return to shareholders. His leadership in established, industry companies has created billion dollar markets with products used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Most recently, Mr. Linowes was the founding CEO of Damballa, Inc. the leading company in information security addressing the most critical issue facing the IT industry – Bot Armies. He built the company from concept into a proven, recurring revenue business with several million dollars in sales from marquis Fortune 500 companies like Procter & Gamble, and Comcast.  Today, Damballa is viewed as the leader in the industry in providing advanced threat protection.

Prior to his leadership at Damballa, Mr. Linowes founded and subsequently sold Mercatus Communications, a next generation, communications application company with award-winning products. Mercatus was acquired by Premiere Global a publicly traded company in that market.

Prior to Mercatus, Mr. Linowes held a variety of senior management positions with Microsoft and Yahoo!.  Mr. Linowes came to Yahoo through the acquisition of Encompass Inc, a venture-backed company where Mr. Linowes was a member of the senior management team.  At Yahoo!, Mr. Linowes was responsible for corporate wide strategic initiatives and partnerships to grow their core business.  Mr. Linowes worked with Yahoo!’s management team to develop long term initiatives including strategic industry partnerships and their strategy for the next generation of web technology (“Web 2.0”).

At Microsoft, Mr. Linowes led some of the first teams that created the multimedia CD-ROM marketplace and their first Internet products – which became the core underpinnings for Microsoft’s content and delivery platforms for the Internet.

An active champion of community involvement, Mr. Linowes founded TechBridge, a non-profit organization that provides technology assistance to hundreds of Southeastern, non-profit organizations each year.  It is one of the top 5% largest non-profits in Georgia. He serves on the board of the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta, Chairs the Neighborhood Nexus organization (a collaboration of United Way, Community Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation), Technology Association of Georgia’s Education Collaborative, Anti-Defamation League, and is actively involved in his children’s school. He has been the entrepreneur in residence at the State of Georgia’s technology incubators – Advanced Technology Development Center and VentureLab, and has previously served as a trustee for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Atlanta Urban League, the Regional Arts Taskforce and the Board of Visitors of Emory University. He is a graduate of the Leadership Seattle program.

Mr. Linowes received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
